I am so mad right now.
We've been registered as 'crisis carers' for the last four years now. With our local child and family welfare. I limited our availability to "infants" as that is what we feel equipped for. I have written regular letters to the social worker so that we were kept in mind & so that she knew we were still available and still very keen to be used.
Today I couldn't get a response on the phone so I phoned the other local welfare branch (the one we couldn't register with because we're one street further across the map than their "area"). Well, a nice lady informed me that, "Oh no, *xxxxx doesn't do crisis removals for placement - you must ask the social worker to refer you to *xxxxx or *xxxxxxx." They haven't done crisis removals or placements for THREE YEARS.
Am I crazy? Are we genuinely not needed? I know that our availability is limited because we said "infants only" but surely there have been babies that have needed overnight, over-weekend, a week's care, calm and security? Wasted. What a lot of wasted time. I am so mad. So sad. So incredibly tired of all the wasted time.
Yes, I know we're in a stressful time at the moment - waiting for the house to sell, feeling a tad sunken by bills etc, but that is NOT PERMANENT. Time. Time. Time.
Wow. The social worker you've written to for 3 years couldn't have bothered to tell you that?
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry. That sucks, and you have every right to be mad.
